A viral Facebook clip showing Cambodia’s defense spokesperson apparently speaking Thai, to complain about Thai hospitals allegedly rejecting Cambodian patients, has been found to be a deepfake.

Thailand’s Ad Hoc Centre for Thailand-Cambodia Border Affairs (The Centre) has debunked a news article, published on a Cambodian news website, which falsely claimed that the Thai military had dropped a bomb on a village in Cambodia.

A viral Facebook post, accusing Thailand’s Acting Defence Minister Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit of rebuking reporters over questions related to Thailand denying medical assistance to Cambodians, is disinformation.

A video, claiming that China deployed DF-26 ballistic missiles to Cambodia, is an altered version of an old video, which had nothing to do with the Thai-Cambodia border situation. Thai PBS Verify, which reviews and screens news for veracity to reduce the spread of fake news, has found that the video was deliberately distorted to mislead.

A Facebook page titled “Embassy of Cambodia in Bulgaria” posted an image of an aircraft dispersing pink-colored substances, accusing Thailand of using chemical weapons to kill civilians. Verification revealed that the image was distorted and unrelated to the claim. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Thailand strictly adheres to the Chemical Weapons Convention.

An account on platform X shared a video clip showing a city being bombed, along with a caption referring to unrest between Thailand and Cambodia, claiming that Thailand had launched airstrikes on Cambodian military bases—while Russia and Ukraine remain at war. In reality, the footage is of Russia attacking Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, using missiles and drones.

A Facebook page named “PR Cambodian Government” posted an attack on Thai media, claiming the report about “Thailand controlling 11 border areas” was false, and asserted that Cambodia still holds those areas. On the Thai side, the Special Operations Centre for Thai-Cambodian Border Situations Management (SOC-TCBSM) confirmed that they have taken full control of all 11 areas since the morning of July 29, 2025.

A Facebook account posted a claim that Thai fighter jets released toxic smoke over Cambodia. Verification revealed that the image was entirely AI-generated.

Thai PBS has wrongfully been cited as the source of a video, posted by foreign social media accounts, showing fighter jets taking off from a runway with the claim that “Thailand is planning to bomb Phnom Penh.” Thai PBS has never reported or published such news or footage.
