Thai athletes, along with 19 other national contingents, have begun occupying the Athlete Village in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, ahead of the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony.
INASGOC Chair Erick Thohir welcomed the athletes and officials, assuring security and comfort, noting that 20 countries have already taken some 300 rooms, with Iran being the largest contingent.
Several sports, including men's and women's soccer, handball, basketball, and water polo, commenced competitions on Friday, preceding the official opening ceremony scheduled for August 18.
Athletes competing in venues outside Jakarta will be directly accommodated closer to their respective match locations for convenience.
