The death toll from the 7.5 magnitude earthquake and subsequent 6-meter tsunami on Indonesia's Sulawesi island surged to 832, with the affected area now deemed larger than initially estimated.
Widespread devastation in Palu saw many trapped in rubble and over 16,000 evacuated, while communication outages severely hampered relief efforts, leaving Donggala largely unreached.
