A total of 48 crew members on the Costa Atlantica cruise ship, docked in Nagasaki, Japan, have tested positive for coronavirus, with 14 new cases confirmed.
The ship, which arrived in January for repairs with approximately 600 crew, sought local assistance for testing suspected cases on board.
One infected crew member has been hospitalized and requires a ventilator, while the others are self-isolating in their cabins.
This outbreak follows Japan's previous experience with the Diamond Princess cruise ship, and occurs as the nation faces a recent surge in infections, prompting a state of emergency.
