Thai police are seeking Interpol's assistance to locate a Chinese agent operating commercial surrogacy services, following the discovery of three infants and their surrogate mothers in Bangkok.
Five suspects were arrested during a raid, revealing that the Chinese agent had recruited 12 Thai women who were implanted with fertilized eggs in Cambodia.
Surrogate mothers were compensated with 10,000 baht upon pregnancy, 30,000 baht monthly, and potential bonuses for healthy male babies, with earnings reaching up to 450,000 baht per child.
The Chinese agent, who ran the illicit operation, reportedly left Thailand in February, prompting the international search for her apprehension.
