House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Democrat) and former National Security Adviser John Bolton (conservative) both independently declared President Trump unfit to lead the country, citing ethical and intellectual shortcomings.
Bolton's forthcoming book alleges significant misdeeds by Trump, including explicitly seeking Chinese President Xi Jinping's aid for re-election and expressing willingness to halt criminal investigations for favored dictators.
The allegations have sparked intense political debate, with Democrats considering subpoenaing Bolton for testimony, while Republicans dismiss his claims as sensational attempts to sell books or as traitorous.
