The U.S. confronts a record surge in coronavirus cases, surpassing 9 million infections and nearly 229,000 deaths, with daily fatalities approaching 1,000, pushing hospitals to their capacity limits.
The escalating health crisis intensifies just days before the presidential election, becoming a highly politicized issue as officials clash over public health measures and battleground states experience significant outbreaks.
The Trump administration faces sharp criticism for downplaying the virus and allegedly prioritizing political interests over scientific guidance, while projections warn of a new record death toll exceeding 72,000 in January.
