An eco-brick library for orphans in Yangon, constructed from 5,000 recycled plastic bottles, stands empty due to Myanmar's political instability.
The project, initiated by Clean Yangon, aimed to provide books and educate children on environmental conservation by transforming plastic waste into building materials.
Myanmar's military coup and subsequent unrest have indefinitely deferred the library's opening, shifting focus from environmental concerns to the fight for democracy.
The initiative is part of a growing global trend of using eco-bricks for sustainable construction, with other projects in Myanmar successfully building schools from similar materials.

Myanmar's detained Nobel laureate, Aung San Suu Kyi, received a package from Britain's King Charles III, which included two gardening books, a sealed envelope, and diplomatic communication.
The event marked the first release of images of Suu Kyi in two months and saw Myanmar authorities describe her as a "special female prisoner" for the first time.
Suu Kyi, who was deposed in a 2021 military coup that triggered an ongoing civil war, remains under house arrest on charges that rights groups contend are politically motivated.
