Domestic flights into and out of ‘Dark Red’ zones suspended from Wednesday

23 Sept 06:38 Key points summarised by AI

Thailand's Civil Aviation Authority suspends all domestic flights to and from 13 'Dark Red' maximum controlled provinces, including Bangkok, effective Wednesday until further notice.
This suspension aligns with new lockdown measures, which also cap public transport capacity, including aircraft, at 50% and mandate social distancing.
Exemptions are granted for cargo, international flights under the Phuket 'sandbox' or 'Samui Plus' schemes, and emergency/medical flights, which are reviewed case-by-case.
Land-based public transport services are instructed to maintain sufficient services, especially during rush hours, and to strictly implement temperature checks for all passengers.

Two suspected drug couriers were killed in a shootout with narcotics officers in Phetchaburi province.
Authorities seized approximately half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine, also known as Ice, during the operation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night after officers tracked a network suspected of transporting large quantities of drugs to southern Thailand.
The suspects, identified as Chattharin and Rungarun, both 27, opened fire when confronted by officers, who returned fire, resulting in their deaths.
