Phuket's 'sandbox' scheme, allowing fully vaccinated tourists without quarantine, will continue despite a recent surge in COVID-19 infections on the island.
Local authorities have implemented new closures, including malls, sports venues, and schools, alongside stricter social distancing measures and limits on public gatherings.
The increase in cases, attributed to more job seekers and tourists, is not expected to halt the sandbox program, with health officials anticipating stabilization around 20 new cases daily.
Since July 25th, all entrants to Phuket must be fully inoculated against COVID-19 and provide a negative test result from within 72 hours of arrival.
