Disney commits to releasing its remaining 2021 films, including Marvel's "Eternals" and Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story," exclusively in theaters for at least 45 days.
This strategy marks a significant shift from the company's pandemic-era experiments with simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases, signaling confidence in cinema's rebound.
The animated musical "Encanto" will have a 30-day exclusive theatrical window before moving to Disney+ just before Christmas.
The decision follows the strong box office success of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," which played exclusively in cinemas and set a Labor Day weekend record.
