Flooding and landslides in India and Nepal have claimed at least 116 lives, with dozens more missing, as extreme weather batters the region.
India's Uttarakhand state reported 46 deaths from cloudbursts and landslides, leading to school closures and tourism bans, while Kerala recorded 39 fatalities and extensive damage.
Nepal confirmed 31 deaths and 43 missing persons due to heavy rains, which triggered landslides, flooded homes, and destroyed crops.
Experts attribute the escalating frequency and intensity of these disasters to climate change, deforestation, damming, and unchecked development across South Asia.
