Thai police suspect a duped American businessman, Louis William Ziskin, informed CNN about the export of tens of millions of substandard medical gloves from Thailand.
Ziskin, a US tech CEO, reportedly purchased $2.7 million worth of used and repackaged nitrile gloves from a Thai trading company, only to discover they were fraudulent.
Following the failed glove deal, Ziskin allegedly hired an Israeli to recover his money, leading to the kidnapping of the Taiwanese businessman who sold him the gloves, with a $3 million ransom demanded.
Thai authorities arrested Ziskin and others for the kidnapping, treating it as a separate case from the fraudulent glove transaction, and advised Ziskin to file a formal complaint about the substandard goods.
