A convicted felon, Kenny Wells, 42, caused panic at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport when his firearm accidentally discharged during a security screening, prompting a police manhunt.
The incident occurred after a 'prohibited item' was detected; Wells grabbed the gun from his bag, it discharged, and he immediately fled the scene.
Three individuals sustained non-gunshot injuries from the ensuing panic, with one falling and two experiencing shortness of breath amidst the scramble for cover.
The event unfolded on a busy Thanksgiving travel weekend, underscoring ongoing issues with firearm detection at the airport, where TSA has found over 450 guns this year.
