Thai customs seizes ivory, wildlife remains worth over Bt155 million

Thai customs officers intercepted ivory and wildlife remains valued over Bt155 million, hidden within more than 560 pieces of processed timber imported from Zambia.
Smugglers utilized sophisticated concealment methods, drilling cavities into the timber and sealing them with paraffin to evade X-ray detection by mimicking wood density.
The significant seizure, one of the largest in the past year, was initiated through random inspections and intelligence, exposing a highly organized transnational criminal operation.
Authorities will conduct DNA testing to establish the ivory's origin, while the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has taken on the case as a special investigation due to its complex nature and links to organized crime.
