‘Joe Ferrari’ seeks to withdraw his appeal against conviction for killing suspect

Convicted ex-police chief "Joe Ferrari" (Thitisan Uttanaphon) seeks to withdraw his appeal against a life sentence for torturing a drug suspect to death, with his mother claiming he has repented.
Lawyer Sittra Biabungkerd disputes the repentance, citing a recent threat to his life and suggesting the appeal withdrawal is a strategic move to secure a royal pardon, potentially reducing his life term to 5-7 years.
Thitisan and five subordinates received life sentences for suffocating drug suspect Jirapong Thanapat with plastic bags during an interrogation, a crime exposed by a leaked video.

Two suspected drug couriers were killed in a shootout with narcotics officers in Phetchaburi province.
Authorities seized approximately half a tonne of crystal methamphetamine, also known as Ice, during the operation.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night after officers tracked a network suspected of transporting large quantities of drugs to southern Thailand.
The suspects, identified as Chattharin and Rungarun, both 27, opened fire when confronted by officers, who returned fire, resulting in their deaths.
