Thai fans can watch all 64 World Cup 2022 matches after FIFA and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) finalized a US$33 million broadcast rights agreement.
The total cost, including a 15% tax, amounts to approximately 1.4 billion baht, with the SAT responsible for the additional tax.
Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, IOC member Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, and private companies like True Corporation, Thai Beverage, and PTT were instrumental in securing funding and negotiating the deal.
Despite significant private sector contributions, a substantial funding gap remained, necessitating further negotiation and external support to settle the final price.
