Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire, exchanging remaining hostages for Palestinian prisoners, based on elements of a peace plan put forth by the Trump administration.
The deal involves Hamas releasing all 20 living hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, with Israel committing to withdraw its troops from the majority of Gaza.
Former President Donald Trump announced the breakthrough, expressing optimism for a "Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace" and fair treatment for all parties involved.
Both Palestinians, weary from displacement, and Israeli hostage families expressed immense relief and joy, viewing the agreement as a significant step toward ending the devastating two-year war.

President Macron condemned widespread rioting and looting during nationwide protests, blaming far-left activists and criminals for the "unrestrained violence" and vowing accountability for those who "sought to bring down the Republic."
Over 2,400 arrests were made as protests against rising living costs and poor school conditions escalated, causing extensive damage to public buildings and businesses in cities like Paris, Limoges (where City Hall burned), Marseille, and Lyon.
The unrest, which organizers hoped would revive the "yellow vest" movement, saw political leaders trade blame, with Macron instructing prefects to protect public buildings and potentially ban future protests to prevent further disorder.
