Increased presence of elephants near communities causes concern

Wild elephants are increasingly encroaching on human settlements and tourist areas across several Thai provinces, raising significant safety concerns.
Driven by hunger, elephants are venturing out of forests to forage for food, with notable incidents reported in Trat and Nakhon Ratchasima.
Park rangers and officials are deploying to manage these encounters, including monitoring potentially aggressive elephants and guiding others back to their habitats.
Authorities advise the public to maintain distance from wild elephants, avoid feeding them, and refrain from any actions that might provoke the animals.

Midnight fire rips through Bangkok community, at least 10 homes destroyed

A fast-moving midnight fire swept through Bangkok's densely populated Phatthana Bon Kai community, destroying over 10 wooden homes and forcing residents to flee.
Firefighters encountered significant obstacles, including narrow alleyways, insufficient fire hydrants, and thick smoke trapped by high-rise buildings, hindering their efforts.
The blaze reportedly originated in an adjacent abandoned house frequently occupied by drug users, prompting a forensic investigation to determine the exact cause and potential criminal charges.
A temporary relief center has been established to provide urgent aid and financial assistance to affected residents, marking the second major fire to devastate this community since June 2022.
