Government officials, including the Forest Department and National Parks, commenced the demolition of illegal structures on Phuket’s Freedom Beach using heavy machinery.
Key suspects, 'Sia Lek' and his family, were detained for allegedly defrauding the public by illegally selling plots of land on Freedom Beach, falsely claiming legal ownership.
Victims discovered the purchased land, valued around 20 million baht, was part of Nark Kerd forest reserves—public land that cannot be legally traded.
The operation to clear all illegal structures was directly ordered by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul following a six-month police investigation into the land encroachment.
