What do we know about DF-26 Missiles?
The Dongfeng-26 (DF26) is a Chinese IRBM with a range of up to 5,000 kilometres. It is classified as a high-destructive-capability missile and is currently under the control of China’s PLA Rocket Force.
Generally, such missiles are not exported, due to their highly destructive nature. At the international level, the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), a non-binding political agreement adhered to by many nations, is aimed at preventing the proliferation of missiles capable of carrying weapons of mass destruction, particularly those with ranges exceeding 300 kilometres.
Although China is not a signatory to the MTCR, it refrains from exporting such missiles, to avoid being perceived as a proliferator of weapons of mass destruction.
