    Thai PBS Verify has found a Facebook user claimed that Thailand’s Social Security increased dental coverage from 900 to 1,200 baht. However, the Social Security Office confirmed no such announcement has been made and warned against spreading false information.

    An investigation revealed that a Facebook user namedPhongtarin Butthong” shared a post stating, “Thank you to Social Security for increasing dental coverage from 900 to 1,200 baht.” This post sparked public confusion and prompted numerous inquiries. 

     

    However, upon checking with the Social Security Office, which clarified that insured individuals under Section 33 and Section 39 have the rights to dental treatments, including tooth extractions, fillings, scaling, and wisdom tooth surgery at affiliated hospitals without upfront payment. The current coverage limit remains at 900 baht per person per year, with no restriction on the number of visits. This benefit can be used at participating private clinics and hospitals within the network, or at government healthcare facilities. (Recorded Link)

    1. Partial Removable Dentures

    Insured individuals have the right to reimbursement for medical and denture expenses based on actual cost and necessity, up to a maximum of 1,500 baht within a 5-year period, under the following criteria: 

    - For 1 to 5 teeth, the actual expenses will be covered as necessary, up to a maximum of 1,300 baht. 

    - For more than 5 teeth, the actual expenses will be covered as necessary, up to a maximum of 1,500 baht. 

    1. Full Removable Dentures

    Insured individuals have the right to reimbursement for full dentures based on actual cost and necessity, up to a maximum of 4,400 baht within 5 years, under the following criteria: 

    - For upper or lower full dentures, the actual expenses will be covered as necessary, up to a maximum of 2,400 baht. 

    - For both upper and lower full dentures, the actual expenses will be covered as necessary, up to a maximum of 4,400 baht.

     

    The criteria and conditions for dental benefit eligibility are as follows: 

    - Insured individuals under Section 33 and Section 39 must have contributed to the fund for at least 3 months within the 15-month period before accessing dental services. 

    - For those under Section 38 and Section 41, they must also meet the 3-month contribution requirement within 15 months, but in addition, they need to receive dental services within 6 months following the end of their insured status.

     

    Required Documents for Dental Benefit Claims 

    1. Dental benefit claim form (Form SSO 2-16) 
    1. Medical certificate 
    1. Original receipt 
    1. Copy of ID card or other government-issued identification 
    1. Medical record from the treating dentist (required for acrylic-base dentures) 
    1. For claims via bank transfer: Provide a copy of the first page of your savings account book, showing the account holder’s name and account number. This must be from one of the 11 supported banks (click here for the list).

    Where to submit: 

    Claims can be submitted at any Social Security Office in Bangkok, provincial offices, or district branches, except the head office located in the Ministry of Public Health area.

    If the insured person receives dental treatment at a non-affiliated clinic or hospital, they can still claim the benefits by: 

    1. Submitting online via E-Self Service at www.sso.go.th, applicants must submit the required evidence, including:

    - Receipt 

    - Medical certificate 

    - Copy of savings account (first page with account name and number) 

    1. Submitting in person at any Social Security Office in Bangkok or nationwide within 2 years from the date of receiving the service, as indicated on the receipt and medical certificate.
