Thai PBS Verify found that the clip showing a missing person being found, which has been viewed almost 300,000 times, is an old video from March 28, 2025. Despite this, it has been shared nearly 600 times. Thai PBS Verify warns the public not to be deceived.
The investigation found that a Facebook user named “Vasna Rak Muang Thai” posted a Reels video with the caption: “A life-saving moment—one more survivor found, emergency rescue rushed to hospital.” The clip was posted after news broke today (April 11, 2025) about a signal light believed to belong to someone trapped under the rubble of the SAO building.
However, a keyword search on Google also found that the same clip had been posted on other social media platforms, such as here and here.
We verified the clip by performing a reverse image search and using keyframes with the digital verification tool InVid-WeVerify, along with a keyword-based reverse search. It was found that the same video appeared on the YouTube channel of Bangkok Broadcasting & Television Company Limited Channel 7, which had posted a news report covering a live broadcast of the first survivor rescued from the SAO building collapse. The rescue occurred at 7:50 PM on March 28, 2025, during which three people—both injured and deceased—were transported from the rubble. (Archived link)
A Google search using keywords also revealed the news reporting on the same incident by Thai News Agency. (Archived link)
On April 11, 2025, the official Facebook page of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) livestreamed a press conference by Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, at 7:30 PM. In the briefing, it was stated that the signal believed to indicate a potential survivor is still under investigation. Rescue teams are working urgently to reach the location where the light signal was detected. However, debris from the collapsed building is still obstructing access, and it is believed that it may take until morning to reach the site. (Archived link)
Currently, the search is focused on two areas. First is the location where the signal was detected but the exact spot where someone might be trapped has not been reached. Second is Zone C where the body of a missing person was recently found and is in the process of recovering. This second location is considered a fatal case.
As of 10:00 AM on April 11, 2025, the total number of individuals affected by the SAO building collapse is 103. There have been 27 confirmed deaths, 9 injuries, and 67 people are still unaccounted for.
