According to an investigation by Thai PBS Verify, this was confirmed to be fake news. A media outlet used an old image from 2023 showing the body of a Myanmar soldier and falsely reported it as a Cambodian soldier killed in a border clash between Thailand and Cambodia.
Thai PBS Verify identified the source of the fake news from: YouTube
An investigation revealed that Channel 8 News reported on the Thailand–Cambodia situation through its program “Lui Chon Khao.” The male news anchor claimed to have received a photo from military sources as key evidence, stating that a large number of Cambodian soldiers had died. He cited the accompanying image as showing 10 fatalities, and the headline read:
“The stench was overwhelming! Khmer soldiers who fought for their nation were abandoned by Hun Sen, left for the worms to consume.”
This report was broadcast on 5 August, 2025.
However, an image verification using Google Lens revealed that the photo had been previously published on Reddit in 2023. It was identified as showing a deceased Myanmar soldier in Namhkam, Shan State—indicating that the image was from an unrelated past event and had no connection to the Thailand–Cambodia situation.

A comparison between the image used in Channel 8’s “Lui Chon Khao” news report, which claimed to show the body of a Cambodian soldier (above), and the image found on Reddit, identified as the body of a Myanmar soldier from 2023 (below).
Further investigation revealed that the unit insignia on the soldier’s sleeve matched information from online security sources and news reports on Myanmar’s Khit Thit Media website. The insignia was identified as belonging to the 101st Light Infantry Division of the Myanmar military.
