The value of the Thai baht has increased rapidly this week, reaching a new high of 32.60 on Wednesday. While this performance demonstrates the strength of the currency, it could potentially harm the export and tourism sectors. Dr. Kirida Bhaopichitr, Director of the TDRI Intelligence Service, mentioned that a 25 basis point cut by the Bank of Thailand by the end of the year is possible, as the gap between the US interest rate and Thailand's rate has narrowed. However, Dr. Kirida emphasised that the quality of products and services remains crucial, regardless of how volatile the currency rate is.
