อวาเล สกุลช่างปั้นดินแห่งหิมาลัย

ด้วยมุมมองของ “อัสสชิตะ อวาเล” (Assajita Awale) หรือ “ธันวา” ชาวเนปาลที่ย้ายถิ่นฐานมาทำกินอยู่ในประเทศไทย ทำให้เขามองเห็นว่าถึงแม้ภาพภายนอกของไทยและเนปาลจะแตกต่างกัน แต่กลับมีหลายสิ่งที่สามารถเชื่อมโยง 2 สังคมถึงกัน นั่นคือ พุทธศาสนา และเป็นโอกาสที่ทำให้ “ธันวา” ได้เข้ามาบวชเรียนในไทยและอยู่อาศัยใต้ร่มเงาแดนสยามมานานกว่า 30 ปี ธันวาจะทำให้คนไทยรู้จัก “เนปาล” มากกว่ารู้ว่าเป็นที่ประสูติของพระพุทธเจ้า เขาจะเล่าเรื่องบ้านเกิดผ่านมุมมองของการเปรียบเทียบเนปาลกับความเป็นไทย และเปิดความรู้ใหม่ ๆ ของวิถีชีวิต เช่นเรื่องนามสกุลของชาวเนปาลที่บ่งบอกถึงการทำอาชีพ ซึ่งนามสกุล “อวาเล” ของเขาคือตระกูลนักปั้นดิน ธันวาจึงอยากไปลองเปิดประสบการณ์การปั้นดินกับครอบครัวคนไทยที่เกาะเกร็ดด้วย

  • Awale : a school of ceramic arts from the Himalayas

Assajita Awale or “Tanwa” is a Nepalese citizen who has settled here in Thailand. From his perspective, despite the outward differences between Thailand and Nepal, Buddhism remains an important point of connection between the two cultures. This connection had given Tanwa the opportunity to enter the monkhood here in Thailand. The land of Siam has been his home for over 30 years. Through Tanwa, Thai people have come to learn about so many aspects of Nepal, other than the fact that it was the birthplace of the Buddha. Tanwa tells stories of his own birthplace by making comparisons between Nepalese and Thai ways. His storytelling opens up topics concerning ways of life. One example is the topic of Nepalese surnames that indicate inherited family professions. Tanwa’s own “Awale” family descends from an ancient lineage of ceramicists. Tanwa’s roots have inspired him to seek out a family of ceramicists in Koh Kret that are helping him to develop his experience in the traditional craft.
