Thai PBS Verify investigated video clips claiming that a "new State Welfare Card" scheme will distribute 10,000 Baht between September 25 and 30, 2026. Findings confirm that no official government announcement has been made, with the State Welfare Card Call Center verifying that the claim is purely a rumor.

Thai PBS Verify found this disinformation from: Facebook

Thai PBS Verify identified a Facebook Reel featuring a woman speaking about a new State Welfare Card.

The clip states that “Regarding the new State Welfare Card, they are now going to transfer 10,000 Baht to every new recipient. 10,000 Baht in cash will transfer to everyone this September. Anyone who has been approved for the new State Welfare Card needs to open a PromptPay account linked to any bank to receive the funds. Payments will begin on September 25, 2026, structured according to the last digit of your ID card number. On September 25, payout goes to vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities whose ID ends in 0, continuing through September 30. Check your scheduled date. The timeline runs through September 30, ending with ID digit 9. Make sure to check if you’re approved under the new State Welfare Card, not the old batch.”

The government will pay only new recipients who meet eligibility for the new welfare card scheme. This is wonderful news. Distribution starts this month, September 25 through September 30, sorted by the last digit of your national ID card. Check your status, folks! If you passed the new State Welfare scheme, it’s fantastic news. If you haven’t opened a bank account yet, open one at any bank you like and link PromptPay to your national ID number if you want the funds. This isn’t a transfer onto your ID card; they will transfer it into a bank account. If you don’t have a passbook, you won’t get it, so go open one quickly, everyone. If you hear this news or see this clip, spread the word and hurry. Unless you miss out on the 10,000 Baht. Previous cardholders aren’t eligible. This is for new recipients receiving 10,000 Baht. For those who haven’t received the 10,000 Baht Digital Wallet payout, the government will distribute it as cash transferred into bank accounts. Passing this along is great news!

Additionally, the caption stated: “5/Sep/26 Great news for new State Welfare Cardholders. The government is distributing 10,000 Baht via the Digital Wallet to everyone from September 25 through September 30.”

The post received 13,000 reactions, 3,200 comments, and over 857 shares after being published on September 5, 2026.

Will State Welfare Cardholders Receive 10,000 Baht?

Thai PBS Verify contacted the State Welfare Card Call Center. They clarified that, regarding the issue of a 10,000 Baht payout for new State Welfare Cardholders, no official government announcement has been made. The claim is purely a rumor. The public is advised to follow official updates through the Facebook pages of the Ministry of Finance and Thai Khu Fah.

The Ministry of Finance is reviewing eligibility for applicants who did not pass the initial screening. The results of this review are scheduled to be announced on September 30, 2026, covering both existing beneficiaries and new applicants whose status remains under consideration.

Regarding progress on the 2026 State Welfare Card Registration Scheme, enrollment has officially closed after accepting registrations from June 4 to June 21, 2026. The initial qualification results were subsequently announced on July 17, 2026.

Applicants who failed the initial criteria and filed an appeal are currently being re-evaluated, with review outcomes slated for release on September 30, 2026. Following the announcement, newly eligible beneficiaries must complete identity verification before activating their benefits.

Observative Point

Sophisticated timelines: The rumor cites specific dates (September 25–30) tied to the last digits of national ID numbers. This is a technique that lends false credibility (by mimicking real government announcements). This tactic is frequently observed in state welfare misinformation.

Exploiting ambiguity between actual policy and fabrication: Because the 2026 State Welfare Card scheme is currently underway (with registration closed and review outcomes pending for September 30), the rumor effectively inserts itself into this window of “uncertainty”, making it difficult to discern fact from fiction.

When Can State Welfare Benefits Be Utilized?

According to the Ministry of Finance website, existing eligible beneficiaries who meet the criteria can continue accessing their benefits without undergoing a new e-KYC identity verification process, as their verification data is already on file.

For existing beneficiaries who failed initial screening but successfully appealed, benefit usage will commence from October 1, 2026, onwards. Meanwhile, newly eligible applicants who satisfy the qualification requirements and successfully complete identity verification via e-KYC can begin using their benefits immediately upon successful verification.

What is the truth?

Thai PBS Verify verified the claims with the State Welfare Card Call Center and confirmed that no official announcement has been issued regarding a 10,000 Baht distribution scheme for new State Welfare Cardholders. Reports indicating cash transfers scheduled between September 25 and 30, 2026, are entirely unfounded rumors. The public should rely on official information released by the Ministry of Finance and the Thai Khu Fah page.

As for the 2026 State Welfare Registration Scheme, applications are now closed. Applicants who did not initially qualify and filed for a rights review are under re-evaluation, with outcomes slated for release on September 30, 2026. Successful new applicants must complete identity verification through the e-KYC system before accessing benefits.

Existing eligible beneficiaries may continue utilizing their rights without repeat e-KYC verification. Meanwhile, existing cardholders who initially failed the criteria but successfully appealed can begin exercising their benefits starting October 1, 2026.

Newly approved applicants who complete e-KYC identity verification can access their benefits immediately upon verification completion.

Impact of Disinformation

  • Misleading the public into believing that new State Welfare Cardholders will receive a 10,000 Baht payout.
  • Fostering expectations among eligible citizens regarding scheduled disbursements between September 25 and 30, 2026, despite no official government announcement.
  • Risking widespread public deception and the viral sharing of unverified claims across social networks.
  • Prompting citizens to rush bank account openings or PromptPay registrations under the mistaken impression that these steps are mandatory criteria for receiving a 10,000 Baht disbursement while a program that does not officially exist.

GuidelinesWhat to do with this misinformation?

  • Verify details regarding welfare rights and financial subsidies through official portals or communications channels of the Ministry of Finance and relevant state agencies before believing or sharing.
  • Cross-reference specific payment schedules or qualification criteria directly with responsible authorities upon encountering such claims.
  • Refrain from hastily opening bank accounts, linking PromptPay services, or acting based on information unconfirmed by the government.
