Online influencer shares distorted images of Lady Gaga allegedly involved in Epstein files

A TikTok video falsely claims pop star Lady Gaga was involved in a sacrificial ritual and consumed human flesh. Thai PBS Verify has confirmed the footage is actually from a 2013 annual art auction, not a secret ritual.

Thai PBS Verify found the piece of disinformation from: TikTok

Thai PBS Verify identified a misleading TikTok post from user ‘peungneko,’ uploaded on February 25, 2026. The post falsely claimed that Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez of their involvement in satanic rituals linked to the Epstein files.

The video has gained significant traction with over 1.9M views, 90.7K likes, and 7,400 shares. Despite the claims being debunked, a large portion of the audience appears to believe the narrative, while a minority of users are questioning the post’s credibility in the comments.

Lady Gaga did not participate in any occult ritual

Thai PBS Verify searched keywords ‘Lady Gaga Epstein Files’ on X and identified another relate posted from user @polo_maciej, who had shared images from the same event with the following caption:”

Lubicie markę @massimodutti ?

Marina Abramovitch as a Ambassador of Massimo .Obok Lady Gaga.

Transcendencja Epstein files.

The caption could be literally translated in English: Do you like the @massimodutti brand? Marina Abramovitch as an Ambassador of Massimo, next to Lady Gaga. Transcendence of Epstein files.

The images on X, mentioning Lady Gaga and Marina Abramovic, were falsely linked to the ‘Epstein files.’

These images were traced using Google Lens, revealing the same scene on Reddit. Posted by user Colin_Bowell on August 22, 2022, that post similarly claimed the event depicted a ‘spirit cooking’ or ‘satanic’ ritual.

A Reddit thread featured the same imagery, claiming it depicted a ‘spirit cooking’ or ‘satanic’ ritual.

However, upon further inspection, Thai PBS Verify found that another Reddit user had already clarified the situation. Their comment debunked the claims, stating:

“Spirit Cooking” refers to a conceptual art project by performance artist Marina Abramovic which has been misrepresented by Jones and others as an actual “Satanic” or “occult” ritual in which leaders of the Democratic Party, most notably former Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, supposedly participated.

The only piece of evidence allegedly implicating Lady Gaga in these supposed “scandals” is a viral image people say shows her attending a “spirit cooking ritual” led by Abramovic.

However, the photograph depicts no such event. It was taken at the 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit, an art auction supporting residency programs at the renowned arts facility located near Southampton, New York. Along with more than 1,000 other attendees, including many well-known artists and celebrities, Gaga and Abramovic were both guests at the 27 July 2013 event, which, although its stated theme was “Devil’s Heaven” and it featured purposely shocking avant-garde installations such as the one seen above, had no connection with Abramovic’s “Spirit Cooking” oeuvre.

Google revealed photos from the ’20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit,’ with Lady Gaga clearly visible within the circled area.

What is the Watermill Center Annual Benefit?

Thai PBS Verify researched the event’s background and history through The Watermill Center’s official website. According to an article published on April 21, 2017, a review of the site’s gallery and video archives revealed that the imagery being circulated was merely a piece of performance art. The footage—falsely claimed to show Lady Gaga consuming human flesh—was, in fact, part of an artistic exhibit featured during the event.

What is the truth?
The examination of the matter confirms that allegations regarding Lady Gaga’s participation in a satanic ritual or the consumption of human flesh are “entirely unfounded.”

The images cited did not originate from a mysterious cult, but from the 20th Watermill Center Annual Summer Benefit. This was a charity art auction held to raise funds in support of artists, which took place on July 27, 2013, in New York, USA.

The event featured avant-garde art displays, one of which was a conceptual performance piece by Marina Abramovic that used models as part of the artwork. Lady Gaga attended the event as an honored guest, alongside more than 1,000 other celebrities and attendees.

Verification Process

  • Reverse image search: after the team had used Google Lens to trace the imagery, it was discovered that these photos were previously misrepresented on Reddit as early as 2022. However, the claims were subsequently debunked by other users within the platform.
  • Keyword search: A targeted keyword search led to official news reports and image archives from the Watermill Center. These records confirm that the imagery in question was from a 2013 art exhibition, not a clandestine ritual.
  • Fact-checking database: An investigation into the link with ‘Spirit Cooking’ revealed that it is a conceptual art project. This work is frequently misinterpreted by conspiracy theorists as a form of occultism.

Impacts of disinformation

  • Proliferation of misinformation cycles: When high-profile influencers with substantial followings disseminate such content, it fosters a misplaced sense of legitimacy within their communities. This effect is compounded when the narrative is deliberately linked to sensitive topics, such as the ‘Epstein files,’ to lend a false air of credibility to the claims. Despite these attempts to validate the conspiracy, the event was objectively a documented art performance.
  • Reputational damage: The false accusations have branded Lady Gaga and the individuals depicted in the imagery as ‘criminals’ or ‘cult members’ in the eyes of those who fail to verify the facts.
  • Emotional and alarmist sharing: High engagement levels indicate that the majority of users share this content driven by ‘shock,’ which serves as the most effective fuel for misinformation and news distortion.

Recommended Response

  • Use reverse image search: Take a screenshot of the image and search by using Google Lens to find where it originally came from.
  • Check keywords with global sources: Since there are mentions of famous cases like the Epstein files, verify the information through credible international news agencies to see if the event was actually reported. Major global news is typically covered by at least one reputable outlet.
  • Distinguish between narrative and fact:
    • Online influencers often employ storytelling techniques, such as dramatic facial expressions or creative editing, to capture audience attention.
    • Such content is mere entertainment only. It is advised not to believe the information entirely until it is confirmed by clear evidence or verified news from reliable sources.
  • Review the comments for clarification: Knowledgeable individuals or those with verified information often provide links and evidence to debunk false claims. Monitoring the comment section serves as a practical initial step before conducting further research to reach full certainty.
