แกะ แพะ วัว จามรี และอูฐ คือ 5 สัตว์ที่ชาวมองโกเลีย ยกย่องว่ามีค่าดุจ "อัญมณี" บ้างก็ว่านี่คือ "ท็อปสตาร์" ของทุ่งหญ้าสเต็ปอันกว้างใหญ่ที่กินพื้นที่กว่า 1.5 ล้านตารางกิโลเมตร พวกมันมีจำนวนรวมกันกว่า 57 ล้านตัว หรือมากกว่าประชากรมนุษย์ในมองโกเลียกว่า 17 เท่า ปริมาณและความสำคัญของสัตว์ทั้ง 5 นี้ผูกพันอยู่กับวิถีชีวิตของชาวมองโกเลียในแถบชนบท ที่ยังคงยึดวิถีชีวิตเลี้ยงสัตว์ในทุ่งหญ้าแบบเร่ร่อน ย้ายถิ่นไปตามฤดูกาลแบบแยกไม่ออก และเปลี่ยนไปเพียงเล็กน้อยแม้ว่าโลกข้างนอกจะเปลี่ยนแปลงสักเพียงใดก็ตาม
การเดินทางของ Spirit of Asia ครั้งนี้ จะพาทุกคนไปพบกับ "ความเกี่ยวโยง" ระหว่าง "ชาวมองโกเลีย" และสัตว์ทั้ง 5 เริ่มต้นจาก "แกะ" สัตว์ที่มีปริมาณมากที่สุดในมองโกเลีย และเข้าไปอยู่ในปัจจัยการดำรงชีวิตของชาวมองโกเลียมากที่สุด
THE FIVE ANIMALS OF WONDER IN THE MONGOLIAN STEPPES
Sheep, goats, horses, camels, and yaks are “the five main working animals”..and are referred to as “the ‘five jewels’ of Mongolia”. Some even refer to them as the “top stars” of the vast steppe grasslands, which covers 1.5 million square kilometers. There are over 57 million livestock animals…which is more than “17 times” the number of humans in Mongolia. The presence and significance of these five animals are “inseparably connected” to the rural Mongolian way of life. The Mongolians in rural areas still raise livestock on the steppes as their primary means of “making a living”. They move when there is a change of seasons…despite how much the outside world has changed.
On this trip, Spirit of Asia examines the ‘deep connection’ between the ‘Mongolian people’ and their five animals, beginning with ‘sheep’, which are the animals with the largest population in Mongolia. They are “in-teg-ral” to the basic daily needs of the Mongolian people.
