Thai PBS Verify found a post on X claiming a fire at Fairmont The Palm hotel in Dubai, UAE. The Arabic caption is auto-translated on X:
“Dubai now..
“Dense smoke after hearing an explosion blast in the Fairmont The Palm hotel.” Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates”
The post was published on May 4, 2026, and it had over 50,000 views.
The luxury hotel in Dubai was really attacked, but not in May 2026
Searches with relevant keywords found no recent reports of an attack on a Dubai hotel.
The video was analyzed frame‑by‑frame via InVID‑WeVerify and was searched on Google Lens. Results matched a report by The Wall Street Journal on February 28, 2026. It identifies the location as Palm Jumeirah and confirms the hotel as Fairmont The Palm in Dubai, UAE.

However, after checking the source of the video, the team found no clear origin, so its accuracy could not be confirmed. In addition, when the clip was examined with AI-content detection tools, no results indicated that it was AI-generated.
According to Hive Moderation’s results, the video was not AI‑generated content.
Fairmont The Palm hotel is now open usual
The team conducted further keyword searches on Fairmont The Palm hotel, and found a BBC news report published on March 1, 2026. It stated that the luxury hotel in Dubai had been damaged while Iran launched retaliatory attacks across the region.

The BBC indicated that the clip had been verified, and pointed out that the incident had occurred at Fairmont The Palm hotel.
At the same time, The Independent, citing images from AP, reported that the photographs showed damage to Fairmont The Palm hotel in Dubai after missile and explosion attacks from Iran.
According to The Independent, the situation was described as follows:
“The government of Dubai’s Media Office has said an “incident occurred in a building in the Palm Jumeirah area” and four people were injured. Explosions have been heard in Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan and Qatar after the Iranian regime warned it would retaliate to any strikes by the US and Israel – which were launched last night.”
In addition, AFP file photos stated that workers were cleaning the debris caused by the Iranian attack at Fairmont The Palm hotel in Dubai on March 2, 2026.

Additionally, Thai PBS Verify contacted the hotel, and staff confirmed that as of May 5, 2026, the situation was normal. There had been no missile attack, and the hotel remained open and operating as usual.

The team found that the incident had indeed occurred, with the hotel damaged in February 2026. However, the footage was re-circulated in May 2026, with captions that created the false impression it was a current event.
