Video of giant UFO discovery in U.S. is AI‑generated

Meanwhile, the disclosure of UFO/UAP information by the U.S. Department of Defense is genuine, but it is misleadingly connected to the fake clip, causing confusion across social media.
Thai PBS Verify found the fake video on: X

The social media post in question appears to show U.S. soldiers discovering a giant UFO, along with claims that the U.S. government released 160 classified UFO documents. The caption reads:
“The US Gov just launched a massive UFO portal. 160+ declassified videos & docs are now PUBLIC.
“Footage of “unresolved” objects over the Middle East and Asia is officially out.
“Do you believe it’s Aliens or Secret Tech? “
The UFO video in question is not real
When segments of the UFO discovery video were analyzed with AI-content detection tools, the results indicated a high probability of 91.5 percent that the video was AI-generated.
Analysis results from Hive Moderation reveal a high probability of the video made with AI.

At the same time, when multiple keyframes from the clip were extracted with inVID-WeVerify and examined with Google Lens, none of the images matched any other sources or reports from credible news outlets.
According to a Reuters report on the disclosure of UFO information on May 8, 2026, the U.S. Department of Defense did release several classified documents related to UFO sightings. The aim is to provide American citizens with unprecedented transparency, although analysts noted that many of those documents had already been made public previously.
In its statement, the Department of Defense added that documents, photographs, and videos concerning extraterrestrials, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) would continue to be released in the future as more classified information is declassified.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the Pentagon had launched the official website www.war.gov/ufo to compile UFO (or UAP, as termed by the government) files for public access, with the site emphasizing “transparency.” The first batch of materials includes still images showing mysterious clusters of lights and oddly shaped objects. Although the images remain blurry and inconclusive, this marks only the beginning of a gradual release of information.
Behind this development was pressure from members of Congress and in-depth reporting by major outlets such as The New York Times, which uncovered a secret UFO investigation program dating back to 2007. This forced the government to systematize and disclose more information to the public.
According to BBC Thai, the U.S. released 161 files containing documents and illustrations related to UFO/UAP investigations.
However, Thai PBS Verify found no evidence of the video in question, claiming “U.S. soldiers discovered a giant UFO on the ground,” in the disclosed documents, nor any similar proof.
In conclusion, while it is true that the U.S. government released information on UFOs/UAPs, the viral social media video is highly likely AI-generated and not authentic evidence from the official disclosures.
What is the truth?
The X video claiming the American soldiers’ discovery of a giant UFO, along with the U.S. government releasing 160 classified UFO documents, was checked by Thai PBS Verify. It was found that the clip was AI-generated. However, the release of 160 declassified UFO documents was confirmed to be true.
Verification Process
- Verification with Google Lens: When segments of the UFO discovery in question were analyzed with AI-content detection tools, the results indicated a high likelihood of AI generation, up to 91.5%.
- Google Lens check: At the same time, multiple keyframes extracted via inVID WeVerify were examined with Google Lens. None of the images matched any clear sources or reports from news agencies.
- Keyword search: According to a Reuters report on the disclosure of UFO information on May 8, 2026, the U.S. Department of Defense did release several classified documents related to UFO sightings. The aim is to provide American citizens with unprecedented transparency, although analysts noted that many of those documents had already been made public previously.
Potential impacts of the fake video
- Causing the public to misunderstand it as genuine evidence: The clip, created with AI but presented as secret government information, may lead to confusion.
- Increasing the spread of false information on social media: UFO-related content is often shared rapidly because it excites and attracts attention. When AI is used to create realistic images or videos, many users may share them without verifying the facts.
- Reducing the credibility of genuine information from official agencies: When real information, such as the disclosure of documents by the U.S. Department of Defense, is mixed with fake clips, the public may be unable to distinguish which parts are factual and which are distorted.
- Reflecting the risks of AI that can be used to create increasingly realistic fake media: This case shows that AI is capable of producing videos that closely resemble real events. Without further verification, internet users may easily fall victim to false information in the future.
What to do with this misinformation?
- Do not immediately believe or share: Even if the clip looks realistic, AI today can generate highly convincing images and videos. Pay close attention to details and anomalies in the clip.
- Verify with mainstream media or credible agencies: Check whether the news or clip has been reported by reliable outlets such as Reuters, AP, BBC, or official agencies. If it only appears on social media posts, exercise extra caution.
- Use image and video verification tools: Google Lens can be used to trace images, or platforms like InVID WeVerify can analyze video keyframes to see if they originate from other sources or contexts.
- Observe the language used in posts: Fake posts often employ sensational wording to provoke emotions and encourage sharing.
- Separate facts from interpretation: In this case, the fact is that the U.S. did release documents about UFOs/UAPs. However, the claim that “American soldiers discovered a giant UFO” has no supporting evidence. Always distinguish genuine information from exaggeration or fabrication.
