Scam Alert! Social Media Page Claiming to Be Famous Krabi Hotel Was Found Fake

A fraudulent page was found on social media, aiming to deceive victims into booking rooms and transferring money. Meanwhile, the hotel itself — Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi — has warned the public to always verify the account name before making any reservation payment.

Thai PBS Verify found the source of fake news from: Facebook

Thai PBS Verify discovered a Facebook page falsely claiming to represent Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi in Krabi Province. The fake page goes by the name of ‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort’ and has 24,000 followers.

How is the ‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort’ page a scam?

When images from the ‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort’ page were checked using Google Lens, they matched photos from the official page ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi,’ which has over 30,000 followers. The legitimate hotel is part of the Central Group.

When checking some images from the page in question with Google Lens, they matched photos from the official page ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.’

The profile of the real ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’ Facebook page

When searching with the keyword Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi, the results led directly to the hotel’s official website.

The official contact details of Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi are specified on the hotel’s official website.

When checking the hotel’s official website under the Contact section and clicking on the Facebook link provided, the system redirected again to the ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’ page. This indicates that the page is indeed the hotel’s official account.

At the same time, when searching for hotels in Krabi on the Central Group’s official website using the keyword “Krabi,” five properties were listed. One of them was Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi. Clicking on the link, it led to the hotel’s official website — the same site verified earlier. From there, the Facebook channel also redirected to the official hotel page.

All of this evidence indicates that both the official website and Facebook page of the hotel appear online as ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.’

Another red flag was found that the fake page repeatedly had edited its posting dates, which was inconsistent with the genuine hotel page. Moreover, the phone number listed on the fake page’s contact section could not be reached.

The hotel confirms to only have one official Facebok page

On November 25, 2025, the legitimate page of Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi posted a warning to beware of fake pages imitating the hotel, stating that these were scams. The announcement emphasized that the hotel’s official contact channels are limited to its official website and the Facebook page by the name ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.’

The following is the translation of the hotel’s announcement:

We, Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi, would like to caution everyone to beware of scammers impersonating the hotel’s page by using the logo or hotel name to lure people into booking through fake pages and various social media channels.

The fake page is found requesting transfers to personal accounts, suggesting to be a scam

As Thai PBS Verify contacted the fake Facebook page (‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’), it asked for money transfers to bank accounts registered under personal names instead of the company. The first account provided could not be used for transactions, after which the page administrator sent details of a second account — again under an individual’s name. This directly contradicts the legitimate hotel’s statement that the only correct account is ‘Anda Beach Resort Co., Ltd.’

In the QR code image provided for payment, the scam page added the word ‘company’ to the account name so that it resembled a company name, aiming to build credibility and trick victims. However, upon checking the account details, it was registered to an individual under the PromptPay system.

When attempting to transfer money to the account provided, it was registered under an individual’s name ‘Raksita Temjai.’

The scammers tried to persuade so that we made transactions immediately.

After direct inquiry with the hotel, it was confirmed that the only legitimate Facebook page is the one named Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.

What is the truth?

Thai PBS Verify has confirmed that the Facebook page named ‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort’ is not the hotel’s official page. It only copied images and a name resembling the genuine page, showing clear signs of fraudulent behavior. In contrast, the page ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’ is the official one under the Central Group.

Verification Process

Verifying image with Google Lens: when images from the page named ‘Centara AoNang Beach Resort were examined’ using Google Lens, they matched images from the genuine page ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.’ The latter has over 30,000 followers and is part of the Central Group.

Verifying through the official website and hotel listings in the Central Group: searching with the keyword ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’ led to the hotel’s official website. Meanwhile, checking the Central Group’s hotels website with the keyword “Krabi” confirmed that there are five Centara properties in Krabi province, one of which is Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi.

Verifying from the hotel official page: The real ‘Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi’ Facebook page previously issued a warning on November 25, 2025, cautioning the public to beware of fake social media pages imitating the hotel. The post made clear that the hotel’s official contact channels are limited to its website and the Facebook page named Centara Ao Nang Beach Resort & Spa Krabi only.

Impacts of false information

  1. Consumers may be financially deceived — for example, transferring booking payments to scammers without any means to recover the money.
  2. This may cause risks of personal data theft, including names, phone numbers, or bank account details.
  3. It can damage the reputation of the legit hotel, as victims may mistakenly believe the hotel itself was responsible for the fraudulent actions.
  4. The public may not trust online booking: it leads to reduced confidence in using social media platforms for travel services.

Recommended Response

    1. Check page names carefully. Fake pages often use names that look like the official ones, with slight spelling differences.
    2. Do not transfer money or share personal information, if contacting pages or accounts that are not official channels.
    3. Verify through the hotel’s official website and access social media links directly from there.
    4. Observe suspicious behavior, such as frequent edits, unreachable phone numbers, or a lack of credible posting history.
    5. Avoid clicking links attached to suspicious pages and do not forward such information.
    6. Report fake pages to the social media platform and notify the hotel or relevant authorities.
