Thai PBS Verify, a fact-checking unit of the Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS), is supported by the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), the Thai Media Fund, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) to jointly hold the intensive, youth-focused media literacy training camp, “Thai PBS Verify Youth Camp 2026: Fostering Young Fact-Checkers to Combat Misinformation and Online Scam Threats (ปั้นนักคิด พิชิตข้อมูลเท็จ ต้านภัยสแกมเมอร์).”

During the training camp, participants will produce fact-checking content to compete for awards and scholarships worth 48,000 baht. This edition will last five days and four nights, between June 30-July 4, 2026 and is free of charge! High schoolers (Grade 10-12) across Thailand can now apply until the deadline of May 30, 2026 at www.thaipbs.or.th/VerifyYouthCamp2026.

Eligibility

  • Current high school students (Grade 10-12) for the 2026 academic year, applying as teams from the same school, from the North, Northeast, Central and South of Thailand.
  • Interest in mass communication, fact-checking, media literacy and content production.
  • Sixty-four students from 32 schools (two from each) will be selected to join the training camp.

Project timeline

  • June 2, 2026: Announcement of 32 selected teams
  • June 30-July 4, 2026: Free-of-charge training camp in Bangkok (venues TBA)

Highlighted activities

Throughout the entire training camp, 64 high school students will learn from and gain first-hand experience with experts from the Thai PBS Verify team, the Cyber Police and media veterans. Participants will attend intensive workshops, produce media literacy campaign videos and closely observe real-time anti-cybercrime operations during an exclusive study visit. Additionally, they will produce fact-checking and anti-scam shorts for the contest featuring awards and scholarships totaling 48,000 baht. Winning content will later be published across Thai PBS platforms.

  • June 30, 2026 : Ice-breaking and team-building activities.
  • July 1, 2026 : Trainings on fundamental fact-checking skills and relevant tools in the age of AI.
  • July 2, 2026 : Study visit at CIB’s anti-cybercrime division.
  • July 3, 2026 : Workshop to produce media literacy campaign shorts, as part of the competition.
  • July 4, 2026 : Pitching day, award announcement and closing ceremony.

Through the upcoming Youth Camp, Thai PBS Verify aims to develop “young media literacy role models,” who will further spread acquired knowledge back in their schools and communities.
