Thai PBS Verify recruits teachers nationwide for free fact-checking training

Thai PBS is advancing its mission to promote media literacy and build resilience against fake news amid an overwhelming flow of information and misinformation.
The Thai Public Broadcasting Service, or Thai PBS, is advancing its mission to promote media literacy and build resilience against fake news amid an overwhelming flow of information and misinformation.
Building on two editions of the Thai PBS Verify Youth Camp, Thai PBS Verify has developed a course for teachers, who play a vital role in passing fact-checking and critical-thinking skills on to students.
The programme is organised in cooperation with the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Central Investigation Bureau, the Department of Mental Health and TikTok.
Applications for “Thai PBS Verify: Train the Trainer 2026” are open nationwide under the theme “Stop false information, challenge bias and tackle bullying for safer classrooms”.
Teachers and education personnel working with lower-secondary students can apply from Oct 5-20, 2026, through the Thai PBS Verify Trainer application page.
A total of 200 applicants will be selected for a free two-day, one-night workshop on Oct 29-30, 2026, at the Mida Don Mueang Airport Hotel in Bangkok.
From spotting fake news to teaching children to think before sharing
During the workshop, teachers will learn about the fake-news landscape and digital threats, develop skills in fact-checking and artificial-intelligence tools, and practise the SIFT method to build the habit of pausing before sharing information.
Specialists from Thai PBS Verify, the Office of the Basic Education Commission, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), the Department of Mental Health and TikTok will lead the sessions.
Participants will then use their knowledge to design a five-hour, active-learning course that can be delivered to students in real classrooms.
The project comprises two main activities:
- Activity 1: Two-day, one-night workshop
The workshop will be held at the Mida Don Mueang Airport Hotel in Bangkok.
Teachers will strengthen their understanding of the media ecosystem and AI technology, practise using fact-checking tools and apply the SIFT method. They will also work together to develop a five-hour lesson plan.
Thai PBS will provide accommodation and meals, but travel expenses are not included.
- Activity 2: Classroom implementation and competition
Teachers will deliver the five-hour active-learning course in their classrooms during the second semester, from November 2026 to January 2027.
They will then submit activity reports and their students’ work to the “Model teachers for fake-news-aware classrooms” competition, which will be held to mark International Fact-Checking Day 2027.
Awards include trophies, certificates and total prize money of more than 100,000 baht. The winners will be announced on April 2, 2027, at Thai PBS headquarters on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in Bangkok.
